Q. I bought an old push mower at a garage sale. I believe came from Sears. The mower is called the Fulton Defiance. It has a wooden handle and four cutting blades. Can you tell me how old it is?
A. We think we found your lawn mower in the spring 1927 Chicago edition catalog, on page 833. This page actually features two Fulton lawn mowers. Sears sold Fulton brand tools and hardware (and some lawn equipment) until approximately the 1930s, when the Craftsman brand, begun in 1927, became more popular.
