Q. I have a 1970s Craftsman gas chainsaw with a 20-inch bar and a 4.3-cubic-inch engine. Can you tell me the catalog/model number and possibly who manufactured it?
A. After researching the Sears catalogs from the mid-1970s, we found a Craftsman chainsaw with a 20-inch guide bar and 4.3-cubic-inch engine on page 153 of the fall 1976 Suburban and Farm specialty catalog. The catalog number, which is different from the model number, is 32 GF 35829C. The manufacturer’s name is not listed, but the description states "powerhead made in Japan, bar in Canada, chain in U.S.A."
