Q. I own a J.C. Higgins bait-casting rod. It is made of steel, with a coating on it of some sort. It has a cork grip in back and a plastic grip in front. Could you please tell me when this kind of rod was sold by Sears?
A. We found a rod that resembles your description on page 1007 of the spring 1953 Chicago edition catalog. It sold at that time for $2.98 and came with a cloth carrying bag.
